Diet or "Die-it"

Is it a diet, a temporary adjustment in your lifestyle to better your overall health.

Or is it a die-it, a dangerous slope with unhealthy habits which may lead to death.

I flipped back and fourth between the two for years. I thought that I was eating cautiously and healthfully, but instead I was restricting most carbs and fats. My diet turned into anorexia faster than I imagined as I eliminated more and more. It is easy for people to get caught up in diet culture because there is so much speculation around it. People are obsessed with their appearance and are willing to do anything to "fix" it.

Diet culture is so biased. Some say eat no carbs and consume healthy fats instead (Keto), some rate foods by a point system (Weight Watchers), others prefer you live on shakes and bars (Most others). NONE of these are ways of living. Imagine having to constantly calculate before a meal or having to always plan your life accordingly. Or having to eat only specific food categories, eliminating others that your body NEEDS to survive! Why not just eat with pure intentions. Why not eat what your body tells you to eat in moderation. It's possible to eat and be healthy with out so much compromise. You CAN make healthy adjustments without obsessing, calculating, and restricting.

- Do you exercise 3-6X per week? Then eat according to your fitness level and needs by increasing your intake.

- Do you want to lose a healthy amount of weight? Then eat more filling fruits and vegetables with each meal, but don't eliminate your essentials or desires.

- Do you want to gain weight? Then add more nutrient dense snacks in between meals.

- Do you want to eat better quality foods? Try to reduce fast food or processed food, and purchase more organic foods (prepared or unprepared).

Don't fall into the trap of DIETS because you could literally DIE(from)IT.
